General Questions

“Why choose a Miniature Dalmatian?”
Because big love comes in small spots! Miniature Dalmatians offer all the charm, intelligence, and iconic beauty of their larger counterparts—just in a more compact, cuddle-friendly size. Perfect for those who want the Dalmatian personality in a package that fits any lifestyle!

Mascot Dalmatians was established by Mr. Gene Connell, Master Dog Breeder, in 1987. After many years of research, he implemented his dream of developing the only “Miniature Dalmatians” in the world. After breeding standard Dalmatians for 10 years, Gene began his endeavor by breeding AKC Champion, Standard Dalmatians and slowly bred them down in size over 25 years. He dedicated his life to creating this spectacular breed. Unfortunately, Gene crossed the “Rainbow Bridge” himself, in February of 2019. Before doing so, he and his wonderful Connell Family members, made a decision to pass this incredible opportunity on to my husband Robb and me. We could not be more honored, grateful, and proud to carry on Gene’s legacy, and follow in his footsteps. We will do everything in our power to continue to breed and supply you with the most healthy and very well cared for Miniature Dalmatians. As of 2020, thanks also to Gene, we are carrying on his goal of incorporating “LUA Dalmatians” into our breeding program. We’re pleased to announce that we are expecting our 10th litter of "LUA" Miniature Dalmatians in February of 2023. Mascot Dalmatians will, from this day forward, be operating as MiniatureDalmatians.com LLC.

Step 2 Call me @310.613.5226, I’m Rebecca Bacon, Proprietor of “The Miniature Dalmatian Plantation”, we live in Southwest Georgia – EST/GMT-5 or EDT/GMT-4.

The average cost of a Miniature Dalmatian puppy ranges from $4,000 to $7,000, reflecting the meticulous care and attention given to their breeding. Factors such as LUA (Low Uric Acid) status, BAER hearing test results, size, and unique spot patterns contribute to the variation in price, ensuring each puppy meets the highest standards of health, quality, and beauty.

Our pricing reflects the exceptional care, dedication, and expertise that go into raising our Miniature Dalmatians. From premium veterinary care and health screenings to early socialization and training, every step is designed to ensure each puppy is happy, healthy, and ready to thrive in their new home. Additionally, as the exclusive breeder of Miniature Dalmatians, our commitment to preserving this unique lineage is reflected in the value we place on these extraordinary dogs.

Miniature Dalmatians are expensive due to the careful and responsible breeding process required to produce them. Their rarity, along with the specialized care and attention to health testing, including LUA and BAER testing, contributes to the higher cost. Additionally, their unique size, temperament, and the demand for these exceptional companions all factor into the price, ensuring that every puppy is healthy, well-socialized, and a perfect fit for their forever home.

At Cherry Hill Plantation, we prioritize the health and well-being of our Miniature Dalmatians, which is why we plan our litters thoughtfully and responsibly. Litters are typically available only a few times a year to ensure each puppy receives the highest level of care and socialization, allowing us to provide families with exceptional companions that embody the breed’s unique charm and temperament.

We are delighted to offer long coat Miniature Dalmatians, a rare and beautiful variation of the breed. These unique dogs feature a soft, flowing coat while maintaining the playful, loyal, and loving temperament that Miniature Dalmatians are known for.

We are proud to offer liver-spotted Miniature Dalmatians, showcasing their stunning brown spots and the same affectionate, playful, and intelligent nature that makes this breed so special.

At Cherry Hill Plantation, our retirees and older puppies are as wonderful and deserving as our youngest additions. These dogs bring a unique blend of charm, love, and often a head start on training, making them incredible companions. While we typically have several retirees or older puppies available, we are deeply committed to ensuring they find the perfect forever home. Just like our puppies, we take great care in matching each dog with a family that will provide them with the love and care they deserve.

Miniature Dalmatians have an average life expectancy of 12 to 14 years, reflecting their overall good health and vitality. With proper care, a nutritious diet, regular exercise, and routine veterinary check-ups, these loyal companions can enjoy long, happy lives by your side.

Miniature Dalmatians are incredibly social, playful, and caring, making them excellent companions for other dog breeds. Their friendly and outgoing nature allows them to adapt well to multi-pet households, where they often thrive on interaction and playtime with canine friends. With proper introductions and socialization, they can form strong bonds and bring joy to every member of your pet family.

Dalmatians are a unique and special breed that thrive with proper care, including close attention to their diet and exercise needs. Their dietary requirements help prevent certain health issues, such as urinary concerns, while regular exercise is essential to support their energetic and active nature, keeping them happy and healthy.

Dalmatians require a special diet significantly lower in purines due to a genetic predisposition that makes them more prone to forming kidney stones when consuming high-purine foods. To help prevent these health issues, it's important to avoid certain meats, such as organ meats and red meat, and instead opt for lean proteins like chicken and turkey, with carefully controlled portions to support their kidney health and overall well-being.

Miniature Dalmatians are not currently AKC registered because they are a distinct variation of the standard Dalmatian breed, selectively bred for their smaller size. While they share many traits with traditional Dalmatians, their size difference and unique characteristics do not align with the AKC’s specific breed standards, which is why they are not officially recognized under the AKC registry.
